Ashlee Byerley June Walker of the Month
Myra Hendricks is our walker for July.  She is 70 years young and has 3 sons ages 42, 50 and 54.  She also has 7 grandchildren between the ages of 7-27.  She moved to Lake Havasu after her divorce in 1996.  She lived internationally for over 20 years in Scotland, Venezuela, and Indonesia then back to Venezuela.  She was born and raised in Los Angeles and moved to Anchorage, Alaska, when she was 18.  She was a Domestic Engineer before she retired.
Myra loves the outdoors and enjoys the energy that regular exercise brings her.  She says it’s a gift to be able to exercise outdoors as much as we are able to in Lake Havasu.
Myra exercises 7 days a week in some form.  She takes 3-mile brisk walks in her neighborhood 5-6 days a week.  Three of those days she takes an Aero Pilates class with a trainer.  On Sundays during the months of November-March she hosts a free hula hoop jam at Rotary Park.  She teaches people to play for exercise!!!
Myra says she has Osteoarthritis throughout her spine and had surgery for spinal stenosis in the fall of 2016 and bilateral hip replacement the summer of 2017.  She says she knows she must continue to exercise to keep her body strong.
Myra says exercise makes getting old a lot more enjoyable when you can do the things you want to do.  We all have an expiration date and she sure does not want to just sit and wait for hers!!  As Myra says don’t just sit around and wait for your expiration date
